The Shining

So, Tuesday was a rough day...and I didn't handle it quite like I wish I would have, but sometimes we/I let the frustration get the best of us. Just as I had written my blog entry complaining about my day from hell I click on over to my pal Tina's blog and after experiencing a frustrating day herself, she had written an entry quite the opposite of mine. It was great and it hit me with some conviction. As a Christian God calls me to reflect his character at all times, yes even when I can't find a Dr. to see me and I am carrying around a poopy toddler. Even then I can be a witness of God's love to others. See sometimes we screw it up and let the flesh get in the way of our heart for God. But, the part I rejoice in is the fact that I was even aware that my approach could have been different. Self awareness is an amazing discovery! One that I have been working hard at. I think self awareness leads to true authenticity of character. Tina's blog sure did help me give this idea of how my actions can reflect God's heart a visual. She posted a music video on her blog and wow, it is pretty impactful. Matthew 5:16 tells us, "Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand - SHINE! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven." How will your actions or attitude affect others today?
In order to hear the video you need to pause the music player on the right side of your screen.

Saw the video on Tina's blog, too, and it was impactful. My light did not shine at work today and I had to end up aplogizing a few times. Thanks for the reminder - hopefully it will stick with me longer this time!

I find myself having to go around apologizing for things all the time. Don't beat yourself up about it. You are right about self-awareness!
