Some R&R in AZ

My hubby and I got back from a very needed, relaxing time in Arizona. Neither of us had been there before, so we were excited to venture to a new area together. Hubby had a conference at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort. Leaving the kids was not easy for me. I always get a little choked up when I leave. This time we had, literally, a team of people that were caring after our kiddos while we were gone. We are so grateful to have such great family and friends that we can trust to keep our kids. Once I got my nap in on the way to the airport I was good to go. Upon arriving at the resort I was amazed at the difference in the surroundings. Hardly any green and mostly everything red/dirt. Now you are probably thinking, duh it is the desert. Which, yes, I did know this, but I guess I didn't know what to expect of the desert. It is pretty in its own way. It is peaceful for sure! I could go on and on about our trip and different stories of the things we did or times we shared...but that may bore you. So, I will include some of my favorite highlights.

Playing Cranium trivia on the airplane with my hubby. Seems so small, but we had fun answering the questions and laughing with one another.

Attending the meetings with my husband to learn more about his business. I enjoy knowing what is going on on a day to day business with his job.

Going to the spa, which was INCREDIBLE, to get a massage. I love to get massages and this was one of the best! The spa also had a seperate pool away from the main pools at the hotel. The spa pool was very quiet and relaxing. There were only three other people there. Relaxing and quiet are two words seldom used in a mom of three's vocabulary so I took full advantage. With hubby at a meeting, I parked myself at this pool and sipped on ice cold lemon water, read my book, and took a nap. Ahhhh!

A king size, extremely comfortable bed.

Sleeping in one morning and eating breakfast by myself on the patio of one of the restaurants. Again, with hubby at a meeting I took full advantage of the quietness. I drank my coffee and took in the sights of the pool, lake, golf course, and mountains. I journaled and talked with God. It was great!

Much needed, feedback rich coversation with hubby.

Horse back riding. Yes, we went on a trail ride with a guide and rode horses for almost two hours. We even came across four wild horses. I had no idea wild horses still existed, but they do. Again, you may be thinking duh...and I am okay with that. :) We got close enough to watch them play with one another. It was unforgettable.

A night all alone with hubby. We rode a boat over to a place called Rawhide, an 1880's Western Town, Steakhouse, Saloon and Shops right in the heart of Wild Horse Pass.
