I had a coaching call this morning with my Life Coach. He read this poem to me...boy does it ever describe my life! I would say I am at about chapter 3 striving towards 4 and would love to be at 5.
An Autobiography in Five Chapters
Chapter 1
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost…I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter 2
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in, again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to find a way out.
Chapter 3
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I fall in…it’s a habit…
But my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
Chapter 4
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter 5
I walk down a different street.

yup, I'd say I'm also a three.... on my way to four. I'd love to be a five.
It's Portia Nelson who wrote this... I used to have her book in high school & college by the same name. You probably heard some of the other poems from her book in all our talks from living together. :)
My street had potholes all repaired and everything, as it's alot older than yours :) but those damn things need repairing every once in awhile! Hang on through every bump in the road! Love ya!
