Staycation
My parents provided us with a last minute weekend getaway to Colorado this past weekend. It was A-MAZE-ING! We had never been to Colorado in the summer time. Words can't describe the beauty. And the weather...close to heaven on earth. :) We headed back home on Monday and the kids...they are still there. My parents offered to keep the kids so they could spend some time with them and we could have a break. They are so thoughtful! So this week TW and I have had a staycation. This is the first time we have been in our home without the kids. We have gone away on vacation and left them with sitters or family, but we haven't been in our home without them. It is a little weird. Quiet for sure! Tuesday I slept in until 10:30am. Wow, haven't done that in years. It was so cozy and I just couldn't think of any reason I needed to get out of bed. So, I stayed. When I crawled out at 10:30am I felt so lazy. :) I drank some coffee and messed around on the computer. I then went to get a massage with a gift certificate that TW had given me for Valentine's Day. It was great! It was also our 8th anniversary this day. We met up for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. We sat out on the patio and had a much needed conversation. We were there for three hours! Then we headed home and relaxed for a bit. We couldn't decide what we wanted to do to celebrate. We tossed around everything from a quick trip to Austin to staying at home and renting movies. We ended up going to Dave and Busters and played some video games and then headed to one of my favorite Italian restaurants for dinner. It was a nice low key evening. Wednesday morning we got up early and went to our favorite breakfast joint for coffee and breakfast. We then headed up to church. TW had to work and I hung out to do my daily reading and study time. Then off to the store. I headed home to make four meals for friends of ours. A quick nap and then off to church to lead in the marriage ministry. Today I sat my alarm so I wouldn't over sleep...but still didn't get up until almost 9am. :) I then had my favorite "open door coffee time" with my favorite neighbor. Today also consisted of laundry and organizing our bookshelf. Beth, the favorite neighbor, is quite the decorator and she generously offered to help me. She did a phenomenal job! I will post a picture soon. I cozied in for another quick nap. Then TW and I had an early dinner and headed up to church because he had a meeting. Tonight we will meet up with friends from church back in Missouri for some ice cream and then we are going to stay up late watching a movie. Tomorrow the plans are another breakfast date, picking up the house for my mama to come, and shopping for AAP's camp supplies. I sure do miss those babies of mine!
