A Tribute to my Mama
This morning I am going to give a shout out to my mom! (I have always wanted to use that term..."shout out") :) My mom is such a giving woman and often times I feel like people like her don't get enough recognition. She was a household executive herself. She was at home with my sister and I all while we were growing up. She was there for every moment and that we will never forget! She has such a giving and thoughtful heart. I was just reminded of this yesterday. We, my hubby and I, were out of town when the last huge ice storm hit so when we got home our driveway and sidewalk were covered in about three inches of ice. I tried putting ice melt on it and that didn't do a thing. So, we have been living on an ice rink in our drive for a few weeks now. My mom came to get me yesterday to take me to get my car from the shop and on our way get the car she stops at Westlakes and gets an ice chopper and some more ice melt. After dropping me off at the car, she comes back to my house and we proceed to chop 3/4 of this ice off of the drive and sidewalk. It was cold out and she was not dressed in her warmest gear, she is very petite and gets cold easy, but this didn't stop her. After getting about half of it done I had to come inside because my kiddos had woken up from their nap. She went home and ended up coming back in warmer close and doing more of the job by herself while I was inside cooking dinner. How awesome is she! She drove all the way back to her house, put on warmer close, and turned around and came back just to clean off the drive. Now it isn't like she lives right down the street. It is a good 15 minute drive to get to her house from mine. This is something she didn't have to do, but just did because she likes to help out! She is always thinking of others! She truly is a gift to those who know her! So this is to you mom! Sit back today and realize you are loved, you are appreciated, and you bless those around you in so many ways...more ways than you even know! I love you!

Oh my, I never expected to see this on your blog. As I wipe the tears dripping down my cheeks I want to say "Thank You". This really touched my heart big-time. You know I don't ask for praise, in fact it kind of embarrasses me. I prefer to go about life doing what I can and then go away quietly knowing that I did something to help someone today.
My arms are aching because I haven't used those muscles like that in awhile. In fact, I don't think I have ever chopped ice that thick. A first for me and I am almost 50. We never stop having "firsts".
It is supposed to be a bit warmer today so I will be over to finish the job. They say we might get more ice and snow in a couple of days. Just think of how built our arms will be!
Love, Mom
Cheers to your mom! I, too, have witnessed her giving and selfless spirit. What a deserving lady!!!

you are blessed to have your (apparently very awesome!) mom live so close by!!
I don't know your mom, but it sounds like she is as wonderful as mine is. We are very blessed to have them in our lives and I am sure you know that. She has done a great job raising you so the day will come when your girls will need help like that and you will be there for them because that is the example she has set for you. Isn't it great to be so loved.

I couldn't agree more about what a loving, generous and caring heart your mom has. I feel truly blessed to have her as a friend and am happy for you and your family to have such a wonderful mom and gamma.
